If You Don’t Want to Lose Weight, Don’t try These Red Smoothies….

When I first started a diet 4 months ago, I wanted to lose 20 pounds. I am going to be 70 years old this July and wanted to get into better shape. I didn’t consider myself obese but just slightly more then I wanted to be.
I realize that I can’t be as thin as I was in my twenties and thirties, but knew that I would feel better about myself if I could lose a few pounds and get back to my workout habits.
So I was looking around for something that would not be complicated and would make my life easier. I still work part time as a hairstylist and I wanted something that I could take to work without any hassles.
So after some searching around I picked nutrisystem. I know, you are probably saying, what does this have to do with the Red Smoothie Detox Factor?
I want to start from the beginning so you will know why I am now using the Red Smoothie Detox Factor.
So I went on the nutrisystem plan and lost 15 pounds and then the holidays came around and I was proud of myself because I only gained 5 pounds back over a month period. So now I had to lose 10 pounds. I stopped using nutrisystem because it was kind of expensive and felt I could do it on my own with what I have learned from nutrisystem.
I hung in there for another few months but stayed at the same weight. I do take medication for my thyroid. I have an under active thyroid so that works against me losing weight.
Now before I go any further, let my tell you that I have done detoxes before and I am used to drinking protein shakes for breakfast. They fill me up and they take away my hunger. And they are great for my muscles especially since I do spin classes three days a week.
So there I was again doing some research to find a detox program that would help me to lose the 10 pounds but also make me feel healthier and have more energy.
So the Red Smoothie Detox Factor is the one I chose. And I am here to chronicle my progress day to day and to let you know how I feel and what you can expect if you decide to try this Red Smoothie Detox Factor.
Before I go into the day to day stuff, I want you to know some of the symptoms you might be feeling along this journey and how to deal with them. You have no idea how the everyday foods and drinks you put into your body affects how it functions and makes you feel.
So the following will explain a little bit on what some of the things you can experience while on the Red Smoothie Detox Factor. Everyone is different and will feel different things. For me I can honestly say that even after 4 days I have had not problems and I am also able to go to the bathroom with no added problems also.
Just about everyone who detoxifies their body encounters side effects. They may be mild or severe, depending on how toxic your body was to begin with.

You are likely to feel exhausted, and when you do, it’s important that you take time out for rest. Try to get plenty of sleep each night. Turn in early instead of watching TV, and your body will thank you.
Headache, muscle aches, and general pain: Physical aches and pains are common during detox, as are headaches. While the headaches are usually caused by caffeine withdrowal, the rest are signs that muscles, joints, and tissues are releasing their toxic load. You can take a painkiller if the discomfort becomes overwhelming, but remember that that medication will be one more thing that your body will ultimately have to eliminate.
Runny nose: Your sinuses are one of the body’s exit points, so expect to have a bit more mucus drainage than usual. It’s completely normal to experience symptoms that are similar to those encountered when you have a cold or get the flu.
Rashes: Your skin is your body’s largest organ, and it will be detoxing along with the rest of you.
Irritability: You are going to feel cranky! People will wonder why you’re so irritable. Not eating the foods you’re addicted to will have your inner child in a tizzy, plus the process of breaking your addiction to sugar and unhealthy fats is emotionally draining. Spend time pampering yourself in other ways to bring balance, and kindly explain to friends and loved ones that you need to spend more time alone than usual. Taking walks in nature or just sitting outdoors in a favorite spot can help improve your mood!
Cravings: Meat, sugar, dairy Cravings can last for several days, but they do decrease as toxins are eliminated and as you re-train your taste buds. By about the halfway mark, you’ll probably notice that you are beginning to crave your smoothies instead of your old favorites.
Now that you know what to expect, you might be reconsidering your decision to give this whole detox thing a try…..but don’t give up just yet!
If I can do this, so can you! I can assure you that it will be worth it…..
Day 1 - I was really excited about starting this program. The first thing I did was to take my measurements and I weighed myself. After all yo do need a starting point. So I will tell you how much I weigh, but will not bore you with all my other measurements. I am 165.8. There I got that out of the way.
Then I got all the ingredients for the first 5 days so they would stay fresh. They do recommend that you do that. I was worried that I would be hungry with no solid food, but to my amazement I was not hungry at all. They do have a list of snacks you can eat in between your shakes. But I did not do this on the first day. I actually added some protein powder in hopes that it would fill me up and I was just fine. Can’t wait for tomorrow…
Day 2 - I got through my first day pretty good. No hunger pains and did not look for anything to munch on. I was kind of surprised really. I truly thought by the end of the day, I would be craving something? Now yesterday was Tuesday and I was home all day. Today was going to be the test of all tests because I had to go to work.
I am a hairstylist by trade and still loving it after all these years. But I only work a 4 day work week and in the summer it is cut down to 3 day work weeks. So like I was saying I went to my spin class at 6 am this morning. Came home made my smoothie and got ready for work. And at the end of the day I really found that I was not hungry at all. But I was feeling a little more tired than usual. I truly believe it is because I am getting rid of all the toxins from my body.
Day 3 - Now today was very interesting. When I went to the bathroom I noticed that my urine was a little pink. A little nervous at first but then I realized that the first two days I was eating a lot of fresh beets in my smoothies. So that was the reason for the pink urine, lol…..Still feeling quite good and I am prepared to stay the course.
I did make a mistake today with adding way too much fresh lime juice. My drink was a little tart. But I just added some stevia (it is allowed) to it and cut the tart taste back a little. I am feeling quit energetic and looking forward to the progress I am making.
Day 4 - Today when I moved my bowels, I was really nervous because I thought I was bleeding. It did seem like blood, but it wasn’t. I also had some cramping as I was moving my bowels. I came to realize that it was still the beets I had in my system and they were working through my intestines.
So I still continues with making my smoothie but today I was feeling very tired. Couldn’t wait for the day to end so I could go to bed and sleep this tired feeling away.
Day 5 - What a difference a day makes. I can’t believe how great I feel. No more pink urine or stool, lol.. Even my husband has said that he couldn’t believe how much energy I have! I believe that my body is starting to feel good about itself again because I am getting rid of all those nasty toxins. After I finish work today I have to go shopping for days 6-9.
All these smoothies and each day is different. Just loving how good I feel and now I have been adding in some in between snacks. Hard boiled eggs, raw almonds, apple slices, celery with some unsweetened almond butter, grape tomatoes. I fixed myself a little plate with a few of these items, fix myself a cup of iyogi detox tea and I am in heaven. Can’t wait for tomorrow because I am going to weigh myself to see how much I have lost. See ya tomorrow….
Day 6 - Instead of writing number 6, I decided to shoot a video instead….
Day 7 - So today I am 7 days into my Red Smoothie Detox Factor and I just couldn’t wait to weigh myself. I have been feeling much lighter and just knew I had to lose at least 5 pounds. Remember at the beginning I said my weight was 165.8? Drum roll please…….
After 7 days I now weigh 159.8. That’s right, I lost 6 pounds. I was jumping up and down. I couldn’t believe it. Because of my thyroid I have never been able to lose more then 3 pounds in one week. So now I can’t wait to see what the following week holds for me. Even if I only lose 1 pound this week, that will bring me to a total of 7 pounds in 14 days, that is amazing…..
Day 8 - After yesterday I am on a high. Looking forward to my smoothie and I want to tell you what I have for snacks in between. Especially when I am at work, I need to have a mid morning and mid afternoon snack to keep me going. Although the smoothies do fill me up, I still look for something to munch on.
I usually bring a hard boiled egg and I have that with a cup of detox tea, which is delicious I might add. Then in the afternoon I might have some celery stalks with unsweetened almond butter. These are delicious. Or I might have some raw almonds which I find to be a little bit softer then the roasted ones. They are quite good.
Day 9 - Today my smoothie has one of my favorite fruits in it, plums and bananas. It is delish. Again no problems and feeling great. Oh and one of the other great things is that I am having regular bowel movements. I know it is a sore subject but, this is a fact of life. What goes in must come out. It is amazing how great you feel when you go regularly..
Day 10 - So today was a little rough for me. I don’t mean it in a bad way. I worked hard all day and when my husband picked me up from work he knew I was really tired, so he suggested to get something out to eat.
You see all this time, as I was drinking my smoothies, I was making dinner for my husband. Luckily he loves to eat healthy also, so it wasn’t hard cooking him his meals while I was sipping on smoothies.
But he knew I was tired so I agreed to go with him to get something to eat. So while he was eating his meal, I was drinking some hot green tea, which is very good. I always travel with my liquid stevia so I have it with me at all times. Never know when you are going to need it.
It actually wasn’t hard sitting there while he was eating. I was more tired from a long day then I was hungry…
Day 11 - Hallelujah, today is Saturday and my last day of the week. Getting through another very busy week at work. You see I am working in a part of Florida that gets a whole lot of snowbirds. And I have clients that come back every year and start booking their appointments in Oct. for Jan. through May. This is our busy season. And this year it seems to be so much busier then last year.
In a way I guess it has helped me during my Red Smoothie Detox Factor. Don’t get me wrong, I still would have done it, but keeping me busy all day, I just don’t have the time to think about food. I usually go without lunch anyway.
Day 12 - Wow only 3 days to go. Today is another delicious smoothie. All kinds of berries go into this one. My favorite berries are the raspberries. I could sit and eat them all day. And of course it is Sunday and I get to rest, relax and enjoy my time with my husband.
Day 13 - Next to my last day of my Red Smoothie Detox Factor program. I am actually anticipating tomorrow because I get to weigh myself. But even before I weigh myself, I can feel how much leaner I feel. I don’t feel bloated or heavy if you can understand what I am saying. On a regular basis sometimes you can feel heavier then other days and not because you ate more food or less. It is just how our systems work. And even if I don’t lose another pound, I know I have lost inches, and that is just as important as losing the actual weight.
Day 14 - Well the day has finally come and I am happy to say that I lost 2 1/2 more pounds. That brings the grand total to 8 1/2 pounds in 14 days. This is amazing. I just feel healthier and more energetic then I have felt in years. This is one grateful woman…..
I believe I have said enough and you should have a good feel for what I have been saying. The rest is up to you. You owe it to yourself to treat your body to some good food and take a break from the way you are now eating.
